We See You. We See How Hard You're Trying.

When our father died by suicide, three of us were still in school. Trying to navigate school, complete assignments, and keep moving forward while grieving such a tremendous loss was incredibly difficult. At that time, there was little support available for young people experiencing this kind of loss.

We know that grief doesn't stop when the school bell rings. It doesn't disappear when a student sits down to take a test, turns in an assignment, or walks into class with a smile.

That's why Break the Silence believes in supporting graduating seniors who have been affected by suicide.

We want these students to know that we see them. We see their effort to stay in school, keep up with their work, ask for help, and continue working toward their future—even when life feels overwhelming.

Our scholarships are one way we can recognize their perseverance and remind them that they don't have to navigate everything alone.

In 2026, Break the Silence proudly awarded two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Mission Oak High School.

These scholarships represent more than financial assistance. They are a reminder that their lives, their efforts, and their futures matter.

We can't change what these students have experienced, but we can help them move forward with hope, support, and the knowledge that someone sees them.

Because every young person deserves to be seen, supported, and reminded that their story doesn't end with their loss.
